Daddy Issues
Our next upcoming show is "Daddy Issues" as part of the Camden Fringe Festival. It is a play originally developed by Chris during their MA studies, which now has taken the shape of a full blown show.
“Daddy Issues” follows Annie, a young woman teetering on the edge of despair, as she bravely confronts the ghosts of her past. While she navigates the labyrinth of her repressed memories, she unearths dark truths buried deep within her. The closer Annie gets to the truth, the more she begins to struggle with her fear of failure, the scars left by emotional and sexual abuse, and her relentless quest for love and approval from her father. Looking back at her life, Annie tries to figure out where everything went wrong – and why it all went wrong.
This partially autobiographical tale is a raw exploration of survival and self-discovery, transforming the narrative of victimhood into one of triumph. It is a story, inspired by a scratch night, which had every woman, man and otherwise identifying person in the audience raise their hand when asked if any of them had experienced “Daddy Issues”.
It is a play for everyone who ever felt abandoned or unloved, while loving unconditionally. It is a play for everyone waiting for an apology they never got.
